Viganj is a
small place in the southwestern part of the Peljesac Peninsula, 7 kilometers
west from town Orebic, looking directly at Korcula. In the immediate vicinity one
finds of the hill St. Elias (961m), which is the highest peak on the peninsula.
Viganj is facing south and because of such a geographical position has a very
warm and comfortable microclimate. Along with island Hvar, Viganj has the most sunny days a year in
Adriatic see.
Viganj has
lots of sandy beaches and some of them are distinct and popular with naturists.
It is worldwide popular place for people who are engaged in water sports,
especially windsurfing and kite-surf, and Viganj hosts a variety of Croatian,
European and international windsurfing regattas, competitions and championships.
Mountaineers enjoy the comforts of St. Elias hill from where they enjoy the
view of the entire waters of the southern Adriatic. There are lots of trails
suitable for mountain biking and trekking, and lovers of flora and fauna can
enjoy in photographing some very rare plant and animal species.
Promenade
of Viganj and village Kućište is round 4 kilometers long and very beautiful and perfect for biking,
rollerblading, walking and socializing in numerous restaurants and beach bars.
Viganj is a place with no crime, your property is safe while in the tourist
office you can get all kind of information on excursions, tourist guides and
service information in all European languages.
Every year
this little town is visited by tens of thousands of visitors who are surprised
by the purity of the sea, friendly locals and the events throughout the season.
In recent
years, it has become a popular off-season destination because the Dubrovnik
Airport is less than 2 hours from Viganj and Split is with fast catamaran link
located on hour and a half. Viganj is a place that has become available for a
long weekend because of the geographical connection, and retained the old ways
where you can have a holiday, without the noise and urbanization.
